| Description: |
Large carved gray sandstone Vishnu, having rounded breasts and serene facial features. Clad in a calf length dhoti with long vertical pleats, and having central double fishtail sash fastened by a short apron type belt, and wearing a wide diadem having intricate textured pattern representing rows of jewels. Hair arranged in braided strands and drawn up into a conical form. Overall exc. surface patina. Head reattached with restoration over the break line, missing both forearms and right leg and lower half of left leg, and a few very minor edge chips. On custom base. A nice example. |
