Young woman with prominent breasts, standing on typically shortened legs, with an infant embracing her back, its head turned to the left. The female figure displays cubist shaped arms and shoulders, richly adorned with zig zag incisions, a classic coiffure, and scarifications on its face. An unusually small Bamana figure, probably kept as private talisman to ensure fertility and a healthy child. |
