| Description: |
Creamware slip pottery seated baby holding both hands on his splayed legs. Depicted with a large elongated head having exceptionally sculpted facial features, narrow slit eyes with pupils, naturalistic nose parted lips bearing his two front teeth, bow shape upper lip, arched brows. The left side of his head is decorated with a deeply incised geometric design and four openwork triangles, all highlighted with a pink-orange pigment, and with traces of highlights in his eyes and mouth. A very lively expression. Plump arms and body, chubby full cheeks, pierced ears. Scattered surface deposits. Head reattached with restoration over the break line, and a patch of restoration between his shoulders, a shallow surface chip on the top left of his head, left foot partially restored. |
