Grayware pottery face mask, of thick walled construction depicted with expressive facial features, open mouth with incised upper teeth, high rounded cheeks and wide openwork eyes with heavy arched brows. Wearing an ear spool in his right ear. Perforated through his temples and top center of his head for attachment. Scattered areas of strong surface deposits, especially on the interior. Missing his left ear, and has some scattered ancient edge chips, otherwise intact. A rare type. |
