| Description: |
Fine red-orange pottery cylinder vase having a flared rim base and banded upper rim. Decorated in high relief with a large standing warrior holding a spear in his left hand and a knife in his right hand, with a large ceremonial object behind his right arm. He is wearing a jaguar head hood and is peering out through the wide open jaguar mouth, fancy pendant necklace, decorated shorts with fringe edges and a loin panel. Expressive fierce facial features. A very minor small v-shape original piece reattached in the upper rim with a fine stabilized hair line, a tiny patch of surface restoration near the tip of his spear, and a 3” piece restored in the rear base rim, otherwise intact, overall exc. cond. A rare, top quality example. |
