Description: |
Polychrome decorated anthropomorphic vessel depicting a seated man holding both hands to his somewhat rotund belly. A simple relief face is depicted in the center of his back, possibly a trophy head. Headdress forms a wide flared rim mouth, possibly for use as a vessel for beer, used in religious ceremonies since pre-Inca times, and mugs were often buried with rulers. Scattered mineral deposits on the surface. A minor tight hair line on his buttocks and some shallow rim chips, otherwise intact. |
